Job Summary: 

The maintenance manager is the leader responsible for all maintenance and repair activities within the company, including facilities, equipment, and grounds. The purpose of the role is to minimize operational downtime, manage costs, and ensure a safe and efficient work environment. 

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance strategy and execution: Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs to minimize breakdowns and extend the lifespan of equipment. Schedule and oversee all maintenance and repair work, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule.

  • Team leadership and supervision: Lead, train, and mentor the maintenance staff, including technicians and other skilled trades. Delegate tasks, monitor performance, conduct evaluations, and hire new employees as needed.
  • Budget and vendor management: Manage the maintenance budget, track expenses, and identify opportunities for cost savings. Negotiate contracts with external vendors and service providers.
  • Safety and compliance: Enforce company policies and all health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards. Conduct regular facility inspections to identify and resolve safety hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Inventory and procurement: Maintain and monitor an accurate inventory of spare parts, supplies, and equipment. Order new materials as needed to ensure availability for timely repairs.
  • Reporting and analysis: Maintain comprehensive records of daily maintenance activities, including work orders, and generate reports on equipment performance and downtime for management review.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as production and operations, to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruptions

Qualifications:

  • Technical expertise: In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, Hydraulics and PLC as well as experience with industrial machinery and other relevant equipment.
  • Leadership abilities: Proven experience supervising and leading a team, with strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Problem-solving: The ability to quickly diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues and develop effective action plans.
  • Organizational and time management: Excellent organizational skills and the capacity to prioritize workloads, manage multiple projects, and respond to emergency situations.
  • Budgeting and finance: Experience with managing budgets, tracking expenses, and controlling maintenance costs.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with staff, senior management, and outside vendors.
  • Education and experience: Equipment, facilities management, extensive hands-on experience in maintenance operations is essential. Certifications are also a plus.
  • Software proficiency: Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is highly desirable for tracking work orders, inventory, and performance. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, push, pull, lift and carry with normal force and weight.
  • Ability to handle tools and materials.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Must be able to safely use tools and equipment.
